This is how it all Began
Judaism dates all the way back to 2000 BC with a man named Abraham ( www.patheos.com). God had appeared to Abraham and told him to move his family from Haran to Canaan (Genesis 12-1). He promised Abraham that He would make him a great nation and his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky (Genesis 12:2) (22:17). Throughout the following years the Jews had God as their right hand man. He gave Moses , the one who led the Israelites out of Egypt, the Ten Commandments at which the Jews should live by(www.bbc.co.uk). However, countless times they broke the commandments and sinned against God. The most sin they committed was idolatry, the worship of false gods. These events caused the multiple exiles and slavery they faced. Many believe that the exiles were punishment for their sins and He will show mercy later on. Later on in history, kings were created because the Israelites wanted to be like other nations. The most memorable kings were Solomon, David , and Saul. Also during this time Prophets were very influential during the time of the kings. The Prophets helped the kings make the right decisions and follow Gods orders.(www.science.co.i) (www.bbc.co.uk)
Around 600 BC the temple and the Jewish leadership was destroyed and most were sent to Babylonian Exile. . After the Babylon exile, many Jews stayed in Babylon, which is now as the Diaspora. Those who did go had to rebuild everything. (www.bbc.co.uk). From this point on the Jews were controlled by Babylon, Persia, Greek, Roman, Islamic and Christian Crusaders, Ottoman Empire, and British Empire. (www.science.co.i). Even though they were governed by outsiders, they still had the right to practice religion freely. This did not last long, they were treated terribly starting with the King of Syria up until the Holocaust. They Jews had many hardships, but they continued to have faith in God. (www.bbc.co.uk).
Judaism is a major religion and many practice it. The believers had many struggles and the religion has only gotten stronger.
